Don’t Get Tricked by the IRS Tax Scams
BEWARE….
There is an ongoing problem with people calling claiming to be with the IRS.
The IRS will:
- Never initiate contact with taxpayers by e-mail to request personal or financial information. This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media.
- Never ask you to provide your full Social Security Number by e-mail.
- Always identify itself.
- Send you written correspondence.
They will also never demand a payment without first sending a written letter. If they ask you for immediate payment on a credit or debit card to solve the issue, this is a major RED FLAG! Please, DO NOT give them any personal information whatsoever. Simply hang up!
We have had many of our clients receive these phone calls, as well as people all around Iowa and surrounding states. Feel free to call our office if this happens to you or if you have further questions. We do not want ANYONE to fall victim to these scams!
